SPB Market Analysis2

There are two main types of people who go into VFX industry, for the first are the artistic types. People who love drawing, They can also just be people who have a good eye for scene composition, these people typically graduate to the 3D major, 3D modelling, texture artists, animators etc. the other type is the more scientific person. someone who does programming or can easily pickup complex applications and create scripts to solve technical problems. Blue/green screen compositing or Technical Director Work.

There are several ways to get into VFX industry. To work with a post production company as a runner. Like The Mill, MPC, Framestore, ILM, have runners which run messages around the company do odd jobs. The second way is self study; a book can teach you how to use an application, and look at some gnomon DVDs is also helpful. The third way is in house classroom training or online training. Like escape studio, FXphd.

SPB Market Analysis

After handed in Final year project, it`s time to come back work with SPB business plan.

Market Analysis

From my primary research www.nanaguo-spb.blogspot.com, we know that what digital visual effects industry is and what the benefit the filmmaker and directors get from VFX industry.

Filmmakers and directors use digital VFX to modify, enhance and augment live-action cinematography. They use a subset of visual effects to enable realization of the visual aspects of film and television projects.

Digital technologies permit filmmakers to surpass the constraints of physical reality.
Typically VFX include integration of digital elements into live-action cinematography, combining elements from multiple sources into composite images or creating photorealistic shots totally by computer.

VFX artists can create 3D elements that do not exist in reality, for example the monsters, horror characters, a pig can talks, a head that explodes etc.

Digital set extensions permit modification of film locations VFX can alter environmental elements such as making day-night and creating storms, tornados, fire storms, that extend beyond both physical reality and budget allowances.

From above we will know that the visual effects industry business is a huge increasing market. More and more strong visual films are released every year, the effects and technique is better than the year before compare with the high standard effects shots. It is can say the visual effects industry have almost become a commodity and also it is used widely in films, games, commercials, game and TV shows industry. Also the trend of visual effects facilities hiring freelancers seems to be increasing.

Following your research, you are required to develop and pitch your commercial idea for a graduate business start-up. You are expected to work individually but you are allowed to work in teams of two providing you have approval from the module tutor. Your idea must be approved by the tutor/s at the beginning of Stage 2.

You will prepare a business case that will support the commercialisation of your ideas.  This will involve producing a written start-up business plan plus marketing and promotional materials for your company or product. Guidance notes on business planning and marketing materials will be made available and discussed during the relevant practical sessions. The layout and the scope of the business plan and marketing materials will be determined in close consultation with the module tutors during the practical sessions. You will be required to hand-in all relevant materials for assessment including your written business plan and marketing materials.

The final stage of the project involves pitching your completed proposal to a panel including your tutors and an external panel member. Imagine you are a recent graduate pitching for business start-up funding. During this presentation you should be in a position to defend your proposals from a business and creative perspective.  Your peers will observe all presentations.

All of your development work for this stage and a digital copy of your final pitch must be stored on your DEVELOPMENT BLOG.

You will also have opportunity to produce a set of marketing materials appropriate to your intended sector. This may contain business cards, flyer and a company web presence in the form of a BLOG or web holding page for your business or product. Consider the overall branding of your company or product. The scope of this will be determined in consultation with your tutors.

You must create an individual DEVELOPMENT BLOG as part of this submission and this must include all of your development work.

You will be required to upload your presentation visual aids and the development work onto your DEVELOPMENT Blog.
