Idea

For my business idea is to be as a freelance working within the Visual Effects and 3D animation industry. I`d like to be as FX Artist and XSI Artist .

I am planning to work in London, Hong Kong or Beijing. I am an undergraduate I don`t mind where can I work, I just want to quick to work and learn more knowledge from industry.

My Service

At the beginning, I will offer the service of XSI skills and animation skills, as this is considered as entry level and a way of moving on to Visual effects industry. After gaining experience I will be able to move on to VFX and offering a service as a VFX artist.

I feel happy to work unsociable hours and weekends. I can offer professional and efficient work. I am self motivated and hard working.

Marketing Strategy

In order to appear professional a set of marketing materials have been designed and produced, this is the business card and A CD sticker, it will be put onto my show reel and will be sent off to the companies which I applied. Besides business card and CD sticker, I also sign up blogger, Linked in and twitter, one way to display my show reel and animation work process, the other way is have a try to communicate with the companies                                                                                                            

Competition

For my main competition is graduate as a fresh graduate, there will also be less experienced compare with who are already working in the industry for several years. For second competition is technique skills for VFX industry, as graduate we know less and unmeasured CG skills compare with people who working at industry. The third one is the visa problems compare with local people if I want to find a job in UK. Because I am an international student, if I want to work I need work permit to extent my visa date.

Financial Information

I will build up a personal website later it will cost £50 per year. The business cards and CD showreel stickers that have been produced have all been printed by me spent £50 per year. To requirement to buy personal software licences and hardware will spent more than £3900.  For additional cast is Living expenses and treavel expense around £200

SUMMARY

My business plan is to be as a freelance working within the Visual Effects and 3D animation industry. I can work as XSI Artist and FX Artist.The key benefits for an employer from me are that I can provide quick, professional and efficiently work. I took lots of materials market, like business card and CD sticker. And a well-made show reel will help me to win over and get a job.

The key benefits for an employer from me are that I can provide quick, professional and efficiently work. I will work and provide my service as a sole trader. I will operate and present myself under my own name (Nana Guo) within net work. I took lots of materials market, like business card and CD sticker. And a well-made show reel will help me to win over and get the job.

I will work and provide my service as a freelancer. I will operate and present myself under my own name (Nana Guo). This is because it`s easy to found and easy to advertised myself. Potential employers will be approached by showing them my work in the different forms of my showreel. Through a good use of networking I will create and maintain contacts within the industry. Like Linked in web will displayed my contact details and my CV. It is focus on business related and network. And for Facebook is go and look at the new visual effects companies` recruiters and information. The structure is simple but easy to remember and research.

SPB S.W.O.T. Analysis

Strengths:
• I know lots of the animation method and principles to support my animation career.

• I know lots a CG software, e.g. Maya, 3Ds Max, Softimage XSI, Vue, Houdini etc. And I know the software used in industry and have learnt how to use it.

• I am aware of how the progression system in order to become a FX Artist. And I am a hardworking and professional CG Artist.

• I have strong hand drawing skill, and I get ability of do a project from concept stage to post production stage.

• I am glad to work at unsociable hours or weekends. The important is I am cheap, I don`t mind how much the salary, I just want to lean knowledge from CG industry.

• I have carefully tailored my work process this year to learn the skills required to help me entry the industry.

Weaknesses:

• I have no previous industry work experience in visual effects industry.

• I not grow up in English language country, so I just worry about my communication skill.

• Other graduates may be more qualified than me, for example, master’s degree.

Opportunities:

• I know some visual effects complains location in London, Singapore and Beijing, I don`t mind where can I work, I just want to quick into industry to gain experiment.

• I have got strong hand drawing and technique skills.

• I have a strong animation showreel.

Threats:

• I have got limited experiment.

• The visual effects industry is a highly competitive industry.

SPB Marketing Strategy

To be hired in the visual effects industry there are lots of marketing to do. The marketing strategy will have a good show reel a establishing a company presence. Because the strong competitive for visual effects industry, it is not enough for a strong show reel to secure a job. In order to appear professional a set of marketing materials have been designed and produced.

A professional business card has been produced which displays all the relevant information about me, such as name, mobile phone number, email, contact and a show reel link. There are four designs for my business card; the front page picture is created by VUE and Softimage. It is one way can show my software skill and second way is present my personal information.

A CD sticker has been designed that will be put onto my show reel and will be sent off to visual effects companies which I applied. The design style is same as business card.


Besides business card and CD sticker, I also sign up blogger, Linked in and twitter one way to display my show reel and animation work process, the other way is have a try to communication with the company.
